Signs of an NFL brain injury
If you or your family notice these, it's worth a free review. You don't need a diagnosis to start.
The NFL Neurocognitive benefit, explained
The Neurocognitive Disability Benefit is a monthly payment from the NFL Player Disability & Neurocognitive Benefit Plan. It's for former players with mild or moderate neurocognitive impairment: problems with memory, attention, processing speed or mood.
The Plan decides your level through neuropsychological testing with its own neutral physicians. Mild impairment pays $4,500 a month. Moderate impairment pays $6,500 a month. How you prepare for that testing, and the records behind it, matter.
CTE can only be confirmed after death. But the symptoms CTE NFL players live with today, like memory loss, mood swings and trouble focusing, can support a Neurocognitive claim right now.
