How MLB Disability Claims Work

You put in the days. We'll handle the rest.

An MLB disability claim comes down to your credited service, your medical record and getting the application right. Our team handles each step, start to finish.

The process

Your MLB claim, step by step

Six steps. Here's who does what at each one.

Step 01You + Legacy

Free MLB review

A 30-minute call. We go over your service, health, work history and pension status, and tell you straight whether Total & Permanent fits.

Step 02Legacy

Confirm credited service

We check your official record. Full seasons, partial seasons in 43-day quarters and injured list time all count toward the 4 years.

Step 03Legacy

Build the medical record

We gather the records that show your condition keeps you from working, and line up anything else the plan needs.

Step 04Legacy

File with the plan

We request the application and submit it to the Benefit Plan Office. Filing within six months of becoming disabled protects your back pay.

Step 05Legacy

Appeal if denied

You have 180 days to appeal a denial to the Pension Committee. We build the appeal and get it in front of the next quarterly meeting.

Step 06You

Get paid

$6,000 a month until age 62, plus $600 a month for each qualified dependent.
