How NFL Disability Claims Work

You played the game. We run this play.

Filing for NFL disability benefits means records, exams, forms and deadlines. Our team handles all of it, from your first call to your first check, so you can focus on your health and your family.

The process

From first call to first check

Six steps. Here's who does what at each one.

01 / 06
Step 01You + Legacy

Free benefits review

A 30-minute call. We go over your seasons, injuries, release date and anything you’ve filed before, then tell you straight which benefits fit.

Step 02Legacy

Build your medical record

We collect team, surgical and treatment records and line up the evidence the Disability Board looks for, condition by condition.

Step 03You + Legacy

Prepare for exams

The Plan sends you to its neutral physicians. We explain what to expect and make sure your records are in front of them.

Step 04Legacy

File it right

We prepare and submit your application to the NFL Player Benefits Office and track every deadline.

Step 05Legacy

Appeal if denied

If the Board says no, or rates you too low, we handle the appeal with new evidence until there’s a final answer.

Step 06You

Get paid

Your monthly benefit starts, with back pay where the plan allows. We stay with you as your health changes.
